Aljaz Bedene joined fellow Britons Kyle Edmund and Dan Evans in the main draw for the Miami Open after coming through qualifying with a 6-2 6-3 victory over Tobias Kamke of Germany.

Bedene, ranked 94 in the world, had earlier defeated Italy's Federico Gaio in straight sets to earn a shot at the tournament proper.

The 27-year-old forced two early breaks in the opening set against Kamke before moving into a 5-0 lead.

However, the German world number 155, recovered to force a break of his own at 2-5, but could not sustain the momentum as Bedene closed out the first set in 35 minutes.

Bedene opened up a 2-0 lead in the second set and broke again in game six to serve for the set at 5-1, only for Kamke to respond before the Briton served out for the match at the next opportunity, completing his victory in one hour and 22 minutes.

World number one Andy Murray withdrew from the tournament over the weekend because of a right elbow injury.
