British number three Aljaz Bedene was downed by Dustin Brown in the second round of the Skistar Swedish Open in Bastad on Thursday.

Playing his first tournament since a first-round loss to Richard Gasquet at Wimbledon last month, Bedene took the match into a final set before falling 6-3 6-7 (5/7) 6-3 to the flamboyant German-Jamaican.

Top seed David Ferrer shrugged off a poor first set against French world number 378 Calvin Hemery, the Spaniard rallying to secure a 3-6 7-5 6-3 success.
