Aljaz Bedene and Kyle Edmund defeated in Winston-Salem Open

Britain's interest in the Winston-Salem Open is over after Aljaz Bedene and Kyle Edmund both exited in the second round.

British number three Bedene was ousted by second seed Roberto Bautista Agut in three sets.

Bedene had started promisingly by taking the first set but the Spaniard - one of just two top-20 players playing at the North Carolina tournament - hit back and won 4-6 6-3 6-3.

Edmund did not fare much better against Serbian Viktor Troicki as he went down in straight sets, losing 6-3 7-5.

He was broken twice in the first set, but had a way back into the match after leading 2-1 with serve in the second. However, the ninth seed immediately broke back and then broke crucially at 6-5 to seal the win.

Both men will now head to New York to prepare for next week's US Open.
