11 things we learned from day four of Wimbledon 2015

1. There are two male Brits in the third round for the first time since 2002.

Great Britain can boast two men in Wimbledon’s third round for the first time since the Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski era, after James Ward blasted past Jiri Vesely in four sets to join Andy Murray.

Ward brushed past the 21-year-old Czech 6-2 7-6 (7/4) 3-6 6-3, and now has his best-ever Wimbledon return, which will see him bank £77,000 whatever happens next.

Britain could have had three men in the third round, but Aljaz Bedene lost 6-4 3-6 6-2 6-4 to Serbian 22nd seed Victor Troicki later in the day.

2. Robin Haase is a big Red Dwarf fan.

He certainly performed like a bit of a smeghead as he lost 6-1 6-1 6-4 to Andy Murray today.

3. Roger Federer couldn’t be more relaxed.

The seven-time Wimbledon champ had the crowds on their feet once again today, a sight he’s incredibly familiar with. He thrilled Centre Court with an audacious in between the legs lob, as he effortlessly glided past American Sam Querrey into the third round with a 6-4 6-2 6-2 victory.

“It’s rare that those shots happen so when they do you have to pull them off. If you don’t win the point you do look a little bit silly,” Federer said. Luckily for him, he won the point.

4. But that doesn’t mean he was today’s most entertaining player.

No, that accolade has to go to Dustin Brown. People were wowed by his unconventional style and the sheer amount of drop shots he played against Rafael Nadal. People paid to be entertained, and Brown certainly did that on Centre Court where he overcame the odds and secured the win of his career.

Two-time former champion Nadal lost 7-5 3-6 6-4 6-4 to Brown, who’s ranked 102nd in the world.

It’s safe to say he made a lot of new fans.

And even those hoping for a Nadal win were admirers, for reasons.

5. The search for Wally is over.

After years of looking for the red-and-white-striped blighter, we found him in the queue at the All England club.

6. Umbrellas can shield you from rain as well as sunshine.

After days of seeking shade in blazing sunshine and record heat, fans had a different meteorological menace to deal with today – rain. It meant play was delayed at the start of the day. It didn’t delay things much though – play was under way soon enough and the temperatures rose again…

7. We now know what Nick Clegg is doing with his time these days.

Good to see the former Lib Dem leader is getting out of the house.

8. Kit Harington rocks a skinny tie.

We can’t think of any good Game of Thrones/tennis puns, so instead we’ll just admire how well the man wears a suit. Clearly not everybody’s impressed though…

Look lively, the man at the back…

9. Adam Lallana was there.

We know it’s him because the woman behind him made doubly sure.

10. And he’s friends with Jon Snow?!

We’ve ran all the scenarios and this should never have happened. We don’t know how it happened and it’s all very confusing. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

11. And finally, there are animals nesting by Centre Court.

But fear not, they travelled home with that gentleman as soon as the day’s play was over.
