Roddick, Ferrer match suspended in sunshine

Andy Roddick and David Ferrer's US Open last-16 match, which was one of a host of matches cancelled on Tuesday and Wednesday due to rain, was suspended on Thursday in bright sunshine.

Roddick had extended his overnight lead by just one game to 4-1 when play was halted on the Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Both players complained of slippery conditions on the surface after the uncovered court had been deluged by another night of heavy rain.
