Denisa Allertova saw her dream run at the Guangzhou International Women's Open ended with defeat to Jelena Jankovic in Saturday's final.
The 22-year-old Czech had knocked out both top seed Simona Halep and third seed Sara Errani en route to the final, but found Jankovic a step too far as the Serb reeled off 11 games in a row to post a 6-2 6-0 win in just 70 minutes.
It was Jankovic's first WTA title since winning in Bogota in 2013 but she took time to praise her opponent's achievements this week.
"Denisa had such a great run here in Guangzhou, beating such great players," she said. "And played so well in the final - it was definitely closer than the result says.
"She'll have many more finals and many more titles in the future. "
