Top seed Annika Beck eased through to the quarter-finals of the Tashkent Open but it was a different story for second seed Carina Witthoeft.

German Beck beat Jana Cepelova 6-4 6-4 and compatriot Witthoeft started well against Donna Vekic, winning the first set 6-4.

However, Vekic fought back and moved into the last eight with a 4-6 6-2 6-2 triumph.

Johanna Larsson had little trouble in a 6-3 6-3 win over Nigina Abduraimova but seeds Margarita Gasparyan and Katerina Siniakova crashed out.

Sixth seed Gasparyan was beaten 6-4 7-6 (7/4) by Anna-Lena Friedsam, while fifth seed Sinikova went down 7-6 (7/4) 6-3 to qualifier Kateryna Kozlova.

There were also wins for Bojana Jovanovski and Evgeniya Rodina, while Nao Hibinio was handed a walkover win against Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
