Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova said she was "fortunate to be alive" after a knife attack in her own home.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at five facts about the 26-year-old:

1. Kvitova was born in Bílovec, in the Czech Republic, in 1990 and was a keen watcher of Czech-born tennis superstar Martina Navratilova when she was growing up. Kvitova began pursuing a professional career at the age of 16.

2. Kvitova's first appearance at Wimbledon was as a junior in 2007. Seeded eighth, she reached the last 16 before losing in straight sets to Katarzyna Piter. Kvitova won her first career title at the 2009 Moorilla Hobart International, defeating Iveta Benesova in the final.

3. Kvitova has won 19 titles in total with career prize money of more than US dollars 22.8million (around £18.4million). Her two Wimbledon wins, in 2011 and 2014, remain her only two grand slam titles.

4. Kvitova is currently ranked 11th in the world. She reached a career-high number two in October 2011, behind Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki.

5. Kvitova beat Wozniacki on her way to winning an Olympic bronze medal in Rio 2016, losing to eventual winner Monica Puig in the semi-finals before defeating Madison Keys in the bronze medal match. Kvitova became the first Czech to win a singles medal since Jana Novotna in 1996.
