Wimbledon diary

Serena Williams starts her campaign on Tuesday and is desperate to get going, saying how she has been over-practicing by two hours every day and then going to the gym to fill more of her time.

The returning champion has been finding another way to keep herself entertained, too - on Snapchat.

Williams took over the official tournament account on Saturday and has been keeping busy on her own, @serenaunmatched.

After carrying out her pre-tournament press duties on Sunday, she gave fans an insight into the rest of her day as she snapped videos of her having her nails manicured and then could not hide her delight when she announced "my favourite filter is back".

Williams then snapped numerous videos of herself in the filter of a baby's hat with a dummy in her mouth, before moving on to doing the same to a teddy bear. She clearly needs some tennis to ease her boredom!

Quote of the day

"Yeah, I voted out. I'm not fussed about saying it. I don't know others who are or not. But, yeah, I voted out. I'm happy with my decision. I think we'll be all right. Everyone needs to stop panicking and we'll be fine" - beaten Brit James Ward switches from his own exit to talk about another.

Picture of the day

Possibly the most Wimbledon thing you could ever see - a spectator eating strawberries and cream while watching the tennis.

Royal Box

Pippa Middleton was happy to smile for the cameras on day one in the Royal Box, while award-winning writer Bill Bryson popped in, perhaps looking for an extra chapter for 'Notes From Little Dribbling'. War and Peace actor James Norton and comedian and actress Rebel Wilson also watched on.

Match of the day

Much is expected of Australian firebrand Nick Kyrgios and he will make his 2016 bow on Court Two against the seasoned pro Radek Stepanek on Tuesday. Will Kyrgios rid himself of the drama that has followed his career so far?
