Tuesday's schedule at the BMW Open in Munich was hit by rain, with only two singles matches able to be completed.

German qualifier Florian Mayer, back on the ATP tour following an injury lay-off, defeated compatriot Matthias Bachinger 6-4 6-4, while Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakstan also progressed to the round of 16 after his Russian opponent Evgeny Donskoy retired because of a hip problem when trailing 6-2 3-0.

The match between Alexander Zverev and Malek Jaziri was suspended because of the bad weather, with Jaziri set to serve leading 5-4.

Number five seed Fabio Fognini will play first on Wednesday, taking on Maximilian Marterer, with the winner set to meet Kukushkin, while Juan Martin del Potro also is scheduled to continue his comeback from wrist surgery against German Dustin Brown for what will be a first match on clay since 2013 for the one-time world number four.
