Rain delays start of tennis action on fifth day at Rio 2016

Rain delayed the start of play on the fifth day of action at the Olympic Tennis Centre.

A packed schedule was due to feature the women's singles quarter-finals and all eight men's third-round matches as well as doubles.

But the steady rain meant the start of the first women's quarter-final between Madison Keys of the USA and Russia's Daria Kasatkina on centre court was pushed back from 10.45am local time (2.45pm BST) until at least 11.30.

Play on the outside courts, which had been due to begin at 11, will not take place before midday.

Johanna Konta was scheduled second on court one for her clash with second seed Angelique Kerber, the highest-ranked player left in the women's draw, while Andy Murray was due to take on Italy's Fabio Fognini third on centre.
