Pospisil battles through in Atlanta

Second seed Vasek Pospisil battled to a second-round victory over Yen-Hsun Lu at the BB&T Atlanta Open on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Canadian Wimbledon quarter-finalist claimed the first set but then lost the second before advancing with a 6-4 6-7 (3/7) 6-4 victory over his Taiwanese opponent.

Seventh seed Gilles Muller of Luxembourg eased into the quarter-finals with a straight-forward 6-3 6-2 victory over American qualifier Jared Donaldson.

In the first-round, Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic beat another American in wildcard Christopher Eubanks with a 6-2 6-2 win, while Tim Smyczek became the third player from the United States to go home on Wednesday as he suffered a 6-4 6-4 4 defeat to Lithuania's Ricardas Berankis in 79 minutes.
