Pablo Carreno Busta advances in Ecuador Open

Pablo Carreno Busta moved into the second round on the opening day of the Ecuador Open in Quito.

The number eight seed, who is ranked 67th in the world, was the highest profile player competing on Monday and he saw off Brazil's Rogerio Dutra Silva 6-3 6-1.

It was a good day for Spaniards as Roverto Carballes Baena, Inigo Cervantes and Alberto Montanes all progressed on the South American clay.

Carballes Baena beat Austin Krajicek 6-4 6-3, Cervantes saw off compatriot Pere Riba 6-7 6-4 6-3 and Montanes edged past Jozef Kovalik 6-3 3-6 6-4.

Colombian Alejandro Falla vear Giovanni Lapentti 6-2 6-3 and Renzo Olivo advanced Alejandro Gonzalez 6-7 6-3 6-3
