French top seed Gael Monfils will battle Austrian Dominic Thiem for a place in the Konzum Croatian Open final.
Monfils scored a late-night win over German Philipp Kohlschreiber in Umag, slugging out a 4-6 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 win over the sixth seed.
It meant Monfils improved his career record against Kohlschreiber to 11 wins from 13 matches.
"I am really happy with the way I played," Monfils said on the ATP World Tour website. "I had to elevate my game as Philipp played a very good match. There was a great atmosphere."
Fourth seed Thiem won an all-Austrian quarter-final against Andreas Haider-Maurer who was trailing 6-7 (5/7) 6-1 3-0 when deciding to retire from the contest.
The other semi-final at the clay-court event will see Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut, seeded second, tackle Portugal's Joao Sousa.
Bautista Agut saw off home Croatian hope Borna Coric, winning 6-3 6-3, while unseeded Sousa fended off Italian fifth seed Fabio Fognini 6-2 3-6 7-6 (8/6).
