Teenager Alexander Zverev reached his third ATP Tour semi-final of the season by saving two match points against Gilles Simon at the Open de Nice Cote d'Azur.

German Zverev, 18, is making quite a name for himself and fought off the match points at 5-6 down in the third set on his way to a 6-3 6-7 (6/8) 7-6 (7/1) victory over the second seed - the third time he has beaten Simon this season.

Zverev will now attempt to reach his first final when he takes on Portugal's Joao Sousa, who was a 7-5 7-5 winner over Kevin Anderson.

Top seed Dominic Thiem is also through to the last four, beating Andreas Seppi 6-3 6-3 to set up a meeting with Adrian Mannarino, who saw off Guido Pella in three sets.

At the Geneva Open, top seed and home favourite Stan Wawrinka continued to warm up for the defence of his French Open title by beating Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3 6-1.

He next meets Czech Lukas Rosol, who came from a set down to beat Andrey Kuznetsov 2-6 6-1 6-0.

The other semi-final will be between second seed David Ferrer, who defeated fellow Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-2 6-2, and third seed Marin Cilic, a 6-4 6-3 winner over Federico Delbonis.
