Grigor Dimitrov remained on course for his first 2016 title with a straightforward quarter-final win over Jiri Vesely at the Istanbul Open.

The Bulgarian, second and highest remaining seed, was taken to a tie-break in the first set before wrapping things up in short order for a 7-6 (7/1) 6-1 win.

Third seed Ivo Karlovic is his semi-final opponent but was taken all the way by Marcel Granollers in a 7-6 (7/2) 6-7 (5/7) 6-4 match.

The second semi-final is an all-Argentinian affair, with Federico Delbonis meeting Diego Schwartzman.

Delbonis defeated Albert Ramos-Vinolas 7-6 (8/6) 6-4, with Schwartzman needing three sets, and two hours 47 minutes, to edge past Damir Dzumhur.
